Door Sarah Holt

A week on from the London Marathon and the aches and pains of the 35,674 finishers may be fading fast, but are any of them ready to run, not 26.2 miles, but 62? For those who balk at taking on the marathon, running 62 miles - the distance between London and Cambridge - seems like something for masochists. Its not, its called ultra running. I’ll be running the Ronda, Spain 101K race the weekend of 12-13 May. It’s an annual race sponsored by the Spanish Foreign Legion. It’s quite an adventure through the mountains around Ronda. A very scenic route (during the day).
It’s billed as a “marcha” and many people do hike/march the route. You have a 24-hour time limit to complete the course. Read the rest of this entry »

Martin Illots Trans-American Journey Day 19

April 18th, 2007 by ultrarun

Martin Ilott, a veterinary surgeon from Windsor,  has embarked on a 3000 mile solo-run from Los Angeles to New York to raise money for Thames Hospicecare.   If successful, he believes he will be the first British runner to complete the run across America unaided.

Martin ’s log book says that he’s in Delta, Nevada after Day 19 of his trip from Huntington Beach, California to Central Park, New York and is not averse to running all-nighters. Tough cookie. I wish Martin well.
