It’s time for the Montane Summer Spine.
The Summer Spine Races kick off this weekend, 14th and 15th of June, in Edale.
The notoriously challenging 268 mile Spine Race is back, and it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable event. The Montane Spine multiday race Summer Edition, renowned for its demanding nature and spectacular setting along the Pennine Way is a non-stop ultrarunning endurance race where participants face extreme exposure to the elements, sleep deprivation, and challenging terrain. The race has been held annually since 2012 when it was held in the winter – a summer version was introduced in 2017.
With its popularity growing the event has 6 other ultramarathon options:
The Montane Summer Spine Challenger South is a non-stop, 108 mile race along the Pennine Way from Edale to Hardraw with a time limit of 60 hours.
The Montane Summer Spine Challenger North is a non-stop, 160 mile race along the Pennine Way from Hardraw to Kirk Yetholm.
The Montane Summer Spine Sprint South is a non-stop, 46 mile race along the Pennine Way from Edale to Hebden Bridge with a time limit of 18 hours.
The Montane Summer Spine Sprint North is a non-stop, 43 mile race along the Pennine Way from Brown Rigg to Kirk Yetholm with a time limit of 18 hours.
A special edition of the Montane Spine Challenger South and North has been created exclusively for active Mountain Rescue members, MRT Challenge North & MRT Challenge South.
