The GB Ultras Chester Ultra 2022 took place yesterday March 12th and links trails along the North Cheshire Way & and the Sandstone Trail taking in Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest & Frodsham. The race starts and finishes at Ellesmere Port Sports Village just to the north of Chester and the 50 mile course is a rough loop shape with 7 aid stations.
The 6:00 am start saw 280 ultrarunners head off and 261 finishers made it to the end. Early leaders were Sean Merryweather and Andrew Dewey but first to cross the line was Michael Young in 7:04:02. Sadie Beasley and second lady Heidi Rogers looked good through checkpoint two but by checkpoint 4 Melinda Marchal has taken the lead and led the women to the finish.
