The Hardmoors 55 is a 55 mile ultramarathon running from Guisborough to Helmsley.This years event started in Guisborough at the Rugby Club, Belmangate and finished at Helmsley Sports Club. The 55 mile race takes competitors through the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills with over 2000 metres of ascent and has a time limit of 16 hours. There was also a relay. Weather was good. 216 finishers, 256 starters in the 55.
First ultrarunner was Andrew Price who reached the finish line in 8:36:14. Stephen Kirk took second place and third was Eddy Healey, third in last years Hardwolds 80, finishing in 9:07:40.
Hannah McMahon led the women in 10:09:01 with Jennie Wilkie in second with 10:38:48 and third was Kendra Wedgwood, women’s winner of the Spine Challenger back in January.
