The Hardmoors 30 is the first UK ultra on the ultra calendar for the New Year and takes place on a figure of eight loop starting at the Village Hall in Ravenscar, Yorkshire on New Years day. This year the 31 mile trail race drew 105 runners in the first of the Hardmoors series of races with 33 running the Hardmoors 15. Despite muddy conditions underfoot there was no rain during the event and there were 97 finishers.
Last years winner Anthony Gerundi who finished in 4:21 in 2012 returned to take third spot this year while Robin Carter took the first spot also with 4:21. Neil Risdale’s 15 minute improvement on 2012 took him to second place.
The women’s race was also fairly close with Sophie Crad finishing first lady and joint 15th overall. 6th place lady, Sarah Smith has posted a write up on her blog.
