Ocean Floor 2013 – Pasqual Brandi and Sharon Gayter Take Top Spots

ocean_floor_logo_2013_295x400The Ocean Floor Race is a 160 mile single stage UltraMarathon that took place in the Egyptian Western Desert. A small field of 12 runners began the race organised by UK company Fat Feet. 8 men and 4 women began the race there were 10 finishers in this inaugural event. The UK’s Sharon Gayter was the first lady, finishing second overall in 50:15 behind desert runner Italian Pasqual Brandi. Brandi subsequently set a new Italian 48 hour treadmill record on February 17th covering over 330 km.

The official results are as follows.

1st – Pasqual Brandi- 48hrs 15 minutes
2nd- Sharon Gaytor – 50 hrs 15 minutes
3rd- Tommaso de Mottoni – 66hrs 35 minutes
4th- George Philips – 71 hrs 10 minutes
5th-(Joint 5th Place) Bryan Rudd, Tom Forman, Antony Hugill -71hrs 35 minutes
8th- Jamie Flanagan-73hrs 35mins
9th (Joint 9th Place) Sarah Gardner Hall and Amanda Boldy-76hrs 35 mins
Matt Neil – DNF (Retired at CP 4)
Kenwynne Barber- DNF (Retired at CP 3)
